Establishment/Progressive Politicians

Chicago Tribune Photos

Are African Americans (Blacks) unsophisticated or too tribal to see that City of Chicago Treasurer Kurt Summers might have been the best candidate for mayor of Chicago?  Or the time was not right for Kurt Summers to run for mayor?

Susana Mendoza who is currently the Comptroller of Illinois could be Chicago’s next mayor. If Susana Mendoza becomes a candidate for mayor of Chicago she will be hard to defeat.  She is what I call a progressive/establishment politician. You may call Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle an establishment/progressive politician. My point is the next mayor of Chicago will most likely be an establishment politician.

In the real world of high stakes electoral politics, underfunded candidates tend not to win.  They need an infectious movement and large amounts of money to be victorious.  Convincing citizens that normally don’t vote to cast a ballot is daunting.

I hope Kurt Summers will mentor younger African Americans leaders who will work inside and outside of Chicago’s establishment institutions.

What Message Is Chicago State University Sending?

In this Chicago State University advertisement is a picture of a young man looking at a cityscape.  The buildings he is looking at doesn’t look the city of Chicago Illinois.  The buildings look downtown Los Angeles, Houston, or Miami.  Is Chicago State University’s message to students; get your degree and move out of Chicago?  Or is the advertisement saying to students; Chicago State University is not a school you should attended because they are not smart enough to put a picture of Chicago in our advertisements?

This piece of trash

A small Cheetos bag landed in my back yard.   Some child, a teen, or an adult dropped this bag of Cheetos on to the ground.  This piece of trash is a reminder that some people don't have a good parent or a good neighborhood environment that persuades them to toss their trash in a trash container.

Is Chicago Finally Ready For Reform?

Is Chicago and Cook County ready for total political reform?    If so what would reform mean in the city of Chicago and Cook County?   Also how do persuade Chicago and Cook County residents who don’t vote to demand and vote for real total political reform?

Mathias 'Paddy' Bauler (January 27, 1890 – August 22, 1977)[1][2] was an American saloonkeeper and alderman of the 43rd ward of Chicago[3][4] from 1933 to 1967. He was known as a corrupt, controversial and charismatic Chicago political boss and is famous for the quote, "Chicago ain't ready for reform yet",[5] or "Chicago ain't ready for a reform mayor"[6] which he exclaimed many times over while dancing a jig[7] in his saloon upon the news of Richard J. Daley's first election as mayor of Chicago in 1955.[8] Mayor Daley banned Bauler from attending public functions for a time shortly after the quote was published.[9]
