Read and Write at Grade Level

According to their web site, AUSL
(Academy for Urban School Leadership) is a Chicago nonprofit school
management organization that creates schools of excellence by developing highly
effective teachers and transforming educational outcomes for students in the
lowest performing schools.
AUSL is a very controversial subject. See and read the WGN TV report by Gaynor
Hall. http://wgntv.com/2014/06/09/fixing-failing-schools-2014-graduation-day/
Gresham Elementary School on the
far south side of Chicago is being "turned around" by AUSL. Although
AUSL is controversial, the Gresham Elementary
School should improve under AUSL. The
big losers are the current Black teachers at Gresham . Also some of the current activist that may
feel unwelcome at the new Gresham.
The parents opposing the takeover
by AUSL have very valid points, but, insuring
that every student at Gresham Elementary School can read and write at grade
level should the top goal.
Public education in Chicago is about Jobs and contracts for
Whites (European Americans). Jobs and
contracts for African Americans and properly educating Black children are after
thoughts. "We" African
Americans should focus on insuring that every
African American student can at least, read and write at grade level.
