Thank you for writing. Sincerely, Barack Obama

The White House, Washington

Dear Marc:
Thank you for writing.  Every American deserves to live in a safe community, and all our children should grow up with the confidence they can achieve their dreams.  Yet too many families still live in neighborhoods traumatized by violence.  We are making progress toward changing that, and I want you to know I am listening.
Over the past several decades, there has been an extraordinary drop in violent crime, and the majority of American communities are safer places to live and learn.  During the course of my Presidency, the murder rate in the United States has fallen to the lowest it has been since the early 1960s.  To continue making gains, and to support our hardest-hit neighborhoods, we must maintain our focus on building trust and strengthening relationships between police officers and the communities they serve.  My Administration is committed to making sure law enforcement officials have the training and resources necessary to keep us safe, and my Task Force on 21st Century Policing has provided recommendations on how to foster effective relationships in cities and towns across our country.  To learn more, visit www.COPS.USDOJ.gov.
Despite our progress, we continue to see tragic levels of gun violence in the United States, which is why my Administration is taking commonsense steps to keep guns out of the wrong hands.  And I will continue to call on Congress to pass the kinds of commonsense gun safety reforms supported by the vast majority of the American people.
The best time to stop crime is before it even starts.  If we make investments in our children early on, we can reduce trends in crime and incarceration by addressing the challenges that can make it difficult for young people to thrive, especially in places with limited educational and economic opportunity.  We must build stronger ladders of opportunity so all young Americans know our Nation has a stake in their future.  They deserve support to make good choices, and my Administration is working to keep more of our children off the streets and in the classroom where they can gain skills and prepare for success.
Again, thank you for writing.  Please know I will continue doing all I can to make every community a safe place to call home.  I am confident that by working together, we can forge a safer, stronger America.
Sincerely,
Barack Obama

In 2016 I mailed a letter to President Barack Obama.   That was the e-mail I received from The President of The United States of America.
