Chicago's 25%

I sort of agree with Mayor Rahm Emanuel who allegedly said that "25% of these kids won't amount to anything". So we concerned Chicagoans should ask the Mayor what are his plans for Chicago's 25%.

Years in prison, or a life of dead end jobs?

A different education model for students who struggle in school?

I also believe a boarding school could be the best way to transform the lives of the hard core 25%.

Do Some Low Income Parents Want Their Children To Fail In School?

I think some parents subconsciously do want their children to become successful and leave them in a low income neighborhood.

I wish I can prove some parents would be intimated if their children were academically superior.

I wish I can prove some parents are more focused on their life and their children's schooling is not a top priority.

I wish I could provide empirical data that show some low income parents subconsciously do not want their children to succeed in school.

I only have theories, so I ask the Consortium on Chicago School Research to conduct a study.

Critiquing President Obama

The Democratic Party need to win 25 seats to take control of the House of Representatives.

Tavis Smiley and Cornel West should spend less time critiquing President Obama and focus on helping the Democrats to win back the House.

Human Capital For Schools

Chicago Teachers Union is asking for $713 million to improve the Chicago Public Schools. Karen Lewis and the Chicago Teachers Union have the right idea, but the State of Illinois and the City of Chicago are in a perpetual recession. This means the Chicago Public Schools will not receive $713 million dollars for improvements.

The money ain't coming so the CPS and the CTU need to create a movement. The CPS and the CTU could ask retired educators, community organizers, mental health professionals, advertising agencies, and business leaders for $713 million in human capital.

The goal should be to teach Chicago Public School parents the best practices of good parenting. Visit any low income public school and you will see that the better students tend to come from stable families where education is valued. There are secret sauces that will create stable families, neighborhoods, and schools where education is valued. The goal is to improve the home life of poorly performing students, thus improve the Chicago Public Schools.

Why Do So Many African Americans Vote Democratic?

Why Do So Many African Americans Vote for candidates in the Democratic Party?

I think it is because free market, unbridled capitalism did not end slavery, segregation, discrimination, and the criminal "just us " system. We had to appeal to government and the courts for justice.

What do you think?

To Become Homogenized or to be Marginalized

I like Professor Cornel West. I like Professor Melissa Harris-Perry.

However.

African Americans consciously or unconsciously make the choice to how much they will integrate and assimilate in to the American main stream.

The choice is to become homogenized or to be marginalized.
